Moran Foods Inc./Save A Lot has executed a lease agreement with Giant Food of Maryland for a 19,150 square foot store located at 116 Stemmers Run Road, Essex, MD. The store is scheduled to open in April 2010. Jim Crilley of H&R Retail represented Giant Food and worked directly with Wayne Kirk of Save A Lot. H & R Retail (www.hrretail.com) announced it recently represented LA FITNESS in a 47,380 square foot lease for a new location at Smoketown Station, Prince William Parkway and Worth Avenue, Woodbridge, VA.

This is the fourth LA Fitness facility to open in the Washington region for which H & R Retail has provided site acquisition and tenant leasing services. LA Fitness currently has three additional clubs under construction in the region.

The H&R Retail Investment Sales team of Mike Gorsage and Kate Howarth is pleased to announce the sale of Stone House Square, a 110,000-square-foot community shopping center located at the intersection of Leitersburg Pike (MD Rt. 60) and Cortland Drive in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The Oekos Group of Companies (“Oekos”), represented by H&R Retail, purchased the newly developed center from Faison for $28,500,000. The 110,000 square foot center is anchored by Weis Supermarkets and shadow-anchored by a Lowe’s Home Improvement store. The roughly 90% occupied center also is leased to national and regional tenants such as Chevy Chase Bank, Starbucks, Greene Turtle restaurant, & Friendly’s restaurant. This is the fifth acquisition for Oekos in the past 12 months which in total represent roughly $150 million in total acquisitions costs. Oekos continues to acquire properties and secure financing despite the recent economic conditions.

H&R Retail (www.hrretail.com), a Washington/Baltimore based retail real estate services firm, announced it recently hired three associates.

Brendan Clark will be working with the landlord representation and project leasing group in the Bethesda office. Brendan will focus on new and existing shopping centers. Previously he was an associate with National Real Estate Brokerage. Brendan holds a BS degree from the University of South Carolina.
Brian Mitchell will be located in the Bethesda office and specialize in tenant and landlord representation. Mr. Mitchell previously served as the VP of Sales and Real estate with Great American Bunkbed Company. After graduating from college, Brian played for two seasons in the Arena Football League. He holds a BA degree from Northern Iowa and an MBA from American Public University.

South Riding Market Square, South Riding, Va. – H&R Retail will assist Toll with the 360,000-square-foot Phase II addition to the center. Phase I is anchored by a Giant Food & Drug store. The Home Depot will open a new store in the spring of 2008. South Riding Market Square is located at Lee Jackson Highway (Route 50) and Loudoun County Parkway (Route 606).

Dominion Valley Market Square, Haymarket, VA. – H&R Retail will assist Toll with the leasing of their 175,000-square-foot Giant Food & Drug-anchored center in Haymarket, Va. The center is located at Route 15 and Dominion Valley Drive.

H&R RETAIL REPRESENTS ROSS DRESS FOR LESS IN LEASE FOR NEW STORE AT FREE STATE MALL IN BOWIE, MD

H&R Retail (www.hrretail.com) announced it recently represented Ross Dress for Less in a lease transaction for a new location at Free State Mall on Route 450 (Annapolis Road) in Bowie.

Marc Katz, Larry Hoffman, and Scott Yurow with H&R Retail represented Ross Dress for Less in the 30,187-square-foot lease transaction. H&R Retail has provided site acquisition and tenant leasing services for numerous additional Ross Dress for Less locations in the Washington/Baltimore area. JBG Rosenfeld represented the owner, Free State Mall, LLC, in the transaction.

Free State Mall is a 280,667-square-foot Giant Food-anchored shopping center. The center has long been the dominant retail center in North Bowie, providing residents with a mix of everyday service retailers and entertainment venues.
