Experience
Jim started his career with Western Development (Mills Corp) in 1984 working on new projects in Washington, DC, Milwaukee,WI, Chicago, IL, and Houston, TX market.

Jim joined Combined Properties in 1988 and ascended to SVP - Leasing overseeing a portfolio of thirty-four properties throughout the Baltimore - Washington, DC area.

In June 2002, Jim joined H & R Retail as a Principal focusing on project leasing and landlord representation. He led the team in releasing and remerchandising of the 420,000 square foot Laurel Lakes Centre in Laurel, MD. The former K Mart was split up and leased to Ross, Michael’s, and Modell’s. Other deals include Staples, Red Lobster, and Chipotle.

In 2003 Jim started representing Regency Centers on some of their new developments including: the 240,000 square foot Fortuna Village in Dumfries, VA, 271,000 square foot Culpeper Colonnade in Culpeper, VA, 317,000 square foot Shoppes at Stonewall in Gainesville, VA, and the 196,000 square foot Village at Lee Airport in Edgewater, MD.

In 2005 Jim started representing Giant of Maryland with the disposition of grocery stores throughout the region. Subsequently he started to manage the leasing efforts associated with the majority of the shopping centers that Giant owns in the area. Additionally, Jim works with others at H & R to find new locations for Giant Food stores.

Jim works with other Owners/Developers including: Toll Brothers Commercial, Core Development, and Dividend Capital.

Since 1984, Jim has focused solely on retail leasing including:
  • Conducting market feasibility studies
  • Formulating desired tenant mix and merchandising plans
  • Assisting in establishing leasing budgets
  • Developing marketing information
  • Managing and coordinating leasing efforts
  • Contacting perspective tenants
  • Negotiating business term and legal issues
